The Horry County Board of Education appoints parents to advisory boards of trustees for each attendance area. Each appointee serves a two-year term. The purpose of the advisory boards is to
- Provide a communication link between the community and the school;
- Inform the school or District administration of pertinent personnel matters;
- Provide the names of advisory board members from each high school attendance area to serve on a rotating basis on a District Appeal Board to hear appeals of decisions made by the District’s hearing officers; and
- Make recommendations concerning District policies.
For more information about advisory boards, see the District's Policy manual.
