A change in the billing process means deductions will not be taken for state benefits for paychecks issued on March 15 and March 31. State deductions include health insurance, dental insurance (including dental plus), State Vision, supplemental long-term disability, and State Optional Life for employee and dependents. Beginning with the month of April, deductions for these benefits will be taken during the month of coverage, rather than a month in advance. Since coverage for March was paid in February, there is no need to make deductions on paychecks issued in March. There will be no interruption in your coverage for these benefits. Be mindful that if these deductions are taken as pretax that your taxes could be higher during March.

The benefits holiday does not apply to retirement, flexible spending (dependent care as well as medical spending), deferred compensation, 403B deductions, or outside vendor deductions.
