Service Learning
Service learning combines school curriculum and service to the community. Students learn and develop through thoughtfully organized service that meets the needs of their school and/or community. This service helps foster civic responsibility, is integrated into and enhances the academic curriculum of the students, and provides structured time for students or participants to reflect on the service experience. Your school may vie for selection in the 8th Annual Superintendent's Service Learning Award. This local initiative recognizes schools for their excellence in successfully making school and community service an integral part of the curriculum. The award is presented to one school at each level - elementary, middle, high, and academy. School submissions must include the following:
