It didn’t take long for enthusiasm to become contagious. In a matter of weeks, the number of teachers wanting to participate in the district’s new laptop initiative exceeded 500. With a goal of inspiring more teachers to use technology in the classroom, the Board approved a million dollars each year for the past three years to fund a laptop initiative that puts laptops, projectors, and Interwrite Pads into the hands of teachers. More than 1,500 teachers have received equipment, participated in training, and are working together to create a web-based learning community.
If you are a classroom teacher in Horry County and you are interested in participating in this program there will be an application process to be added to the waiting list when more equipment becomes avaliable. School principals and curriculum coaches will be notified when the application is available online.
