The Horry County
Schools Adult Education program received six awards at the South Carolina Adult
and Community Education Celebrations Luncheon in Columbia. Teresa Vause, volunteer from Time Warner Cable, was also recognized for her
work and leadership on the marketing team for HCS Adult Education.
The following awards were presented:
- Best Practices Recognition – for the work accomplished by the Data Team and Marketing Team
- Palmetto Pride Award – for exceeding the national performance goals for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
- Career Readiness Award – for exceeding the State Goal for Career Readiness Certificates (WorkKeys)
- Correctional Career Readiness Award – for exceeding the State Goal for Career Readiness Certificates awarded in a correctional center
- Palmetto Trend Setter – for exceeding the State Goal for GED pass rates
- Palmetto Master – for exceeding the State Goal for GED pass rates for first time takers
Horry County Schools Adult Education is recognized as a state leader for GED Preparation, High School Diplomas, Adult Basic Education, WorkKeys Certification, English for Speakers of Other Languages, and Career Readiness Orientation.
